Residents in Castlecliff, Whanganui reported sediment-laden water flowing from their taps. Approximately 20 households near Cornfoot, Polson, and Manuka Streets remain affected by the issue.

The problem began roughly three weeks prior when "a prior water main project reactivated an outdated pipe." Increased water flow dislodged accumulated sediment within the pipeline. Despite visible particles, authorities stated the water remains "safe for drinking purposes."

The council continues flushing pipes and delivering clean water to impacted properties. Plumbers have been dispatched to evaluate damaged appliances and heating systems.

Affected residents received guidance: shut off interior taps and operate the external tap at the property's front entrance for "10 to 15 minutes." Those experiencing sand, discolored water, or low pressure should contact the council at 06 349 0001.
